Not so fast: Aeros’ Crowe on DL; game postponed

No sooner had I posted the Akron Aeros series preview than I discovered left fielder Trevor Crowe was placed on the disabled list with a strained left intercostal muscle retroactive to July 2. This is has to be a frustrating blow to Crowe who, as noted in my previous post, had come back from an early season slump to claim the Eastern League Player of the Month Award for June.

Tribe newcomer Matt LaPorta will take Crowe’s spot on the Aeros roster.

Left-handed starter Chuck Lofgren was also activated after not having pitched since June 13. Cleveland’s second-ranked prospect according to Baseball America is not schedule to pitch during the Baysox series.

Of course, no one will pitch for either Bowie or Akron, as tonight’s game has been postponed due to rain.
